Siggraph 2008 is in LA this year which should set the stage for a huge event, especially since most of the participants wont have to go far. (Sorry pixar/lucas people you will still have to travel). The last Siggraph i attended was in 2006 in Boston, and apparently this was low turnout, but considering this was my 1st and (ahem) only Siggraph i didnt know the Difference. I missed Siggraph 09 in San Dieg, CA but mainly due to cash flow problems.

2008 Should be a different experience. For starters most of my grad school friends will be there, most of them live there. Also since its in LA I can get a chance to check out the area. Ive been to SF and though it was great, but from what I hear LA might as well be in another state. Also since I’m east coast based I’ll prob not be looking hard for a job as I’m going to try and hit a lot of the vendors and research panels. Just to see whats coming up and what I need to learn.
