Ive been back from Siggraph for about a week now but I left LA with more than a few bits of swag. Some how I picked up a cold on the way back that developed into a minor ear infection. IN BOTH EARS! So I was basically mostly deaf for a while this week. Luckily I didn’t have much work to do, and was able to make it through the week more or less. A few more days on some heavy duty antibiotics and I should be good to go.

Moving on, here are some Siggraph Pics. Most of the time I was there I was checking in on old friends and attending some great talks and met some great people.

I was working unsuccessfully to design some new cards and ran across this link from Fubiz.net featuring 70 ridiculously awesome business cards. They range from the crazy go nuts (razor blade cards) to The Japanese will love this (hand cards see below)

Link: http://www.fubiz.net/blog/index.php?2008/06/04/1692-70-amazing-business-cards

Anyway these make my cards look stupid Luckly I only buy 100 at a time from a internet printer so every few months i get a chance to change them up. I need to find a new printer, ive been using overnightprints.com but the colors are alwasy somewhat off, and i dont like how thier gradients look. They come out splotchy and with color speckels in them. Ive been forced to use solid colors and low graphics for the most part which is ok. If anyone has a suggestion let me know.

Kite Runner

Just looking around the net for some titling design ideas and i found a site profiling 7 of the apparently best recent title sequences.

I did enjoyed Irons Man, and Stranger and Fictions  title sequence,  i had not seen the other 5. I did mangage to find Kite Runners sequence on MK12’s site

http://www.mk12.com/video-popup.html?video=v5_quicktime/2007/kite_runner.mov&title=KITE%20RUNNER%20&date=Client&info=2008&type=client

I really like sequences that have depth, design, and timing, and are not overloaded with unnecessary bells and whistles.

enjoy.
